The position and role of Shaman once commanded a great deal of respect in Nord society. Before the coming of the Einherjar, they were the only force capable of blunting the worst excesses of the Fimbulwinter and the Jötnar. Their rune castings and mist weavings could, and did, save countless villages from extinction. During the war with the Jötnar, Shamen were often found at the right hand of the Einherjar, granting their wisdom and guiding them through the many difficult decisions that had to be taken.
Given the pivotal role they played in the survival of the Nord people, one would expect their station to be rather more… exalted than it currently stands. Reduced to living on the edge of what villages will take them, Shamen have fallen on hard times. This decline can be directly traced to the rise of the Valkyrie Cult as a force within Nord society.

Their cost of their mount, equipment and deployment as well as effectiveness on the battlefield set these warriors on a league of their own. A Mounted Strategos is the epitome of this ancient warrior code, a paragon of a bygone age mounted on his ritual companion, whose faded glory and tattered panoply cannot dim the blazing intellect and sheer will that smolder within this faded vessel.

Throughout the history of the Old Dominion, each Legion had a separate interment site where all the recovered bodies of its fallen Legionnaires and officers were buried. Crowning each of these spartan necropolises was a Cenotaph, a memorial to those who fell but were not recovered. A locus for the enduring pride of the Legion, any foe fighting under its dark power knows he faces not only the relentless dead in front of him, but the combined will of those countless Legionnaire’s whose bodies were not recovered.

Originally established as a means to reinvigorate the long-dulled sense of adventure of its founder, the Explorer’s Society has since expanded to focus on unfurling the mysteries of Malifaux and beyond. These aristocrats, dark tourists, and pioneers venture into the unknown corners of this world to seek knowledge, discover new locations, and hunt big game. While their motivations are unclear, their recent push to amass rare artifacts is not.
Death is a temporary inconvenience for those who have found themselves within Jedza’s orbit. This eternal wanderer is an expert at controlling important chokepoints of the table, utilizing her Fragility of Life Ability to keep her own Seekers around long after their natural death. Should she meet some unfriendly characters along her path, the Inevitability of Death Ability will make sure they meet their end soon. Most Nords know Loki as a deranged entity, dangerous at best, downright hostile and deadly at worst. He is the father of monsters, the bane of the Aesir and a constant thorn in the sides of heros, mortals and gods alike. However for all his faults it was Loki who created the Goltr, the only animal in Manheim that can survive in the wild, yet can also be domesticated. Its flesh is succulent and its hardy constitution makes parasites vanishingly rare, although not unknown, and its leather is supple, resilient and remarkably warm. Clever and loyal, Goltr can be trained for a number of roles, and it's common to see herds of these beasts loaded onto ships on raid. That more foes and handlers have fallen to their occasionally murderous temperament than any other beast, or that their ravenous omnivorous appetite has earned the Nords a reputation for cannibalism seldom crosses people's minds, but never fails to bring a smile to an old, deranged god. How They Play:Viscious and at times uncontrollable, the Goltr beastpacks run ahead of the main force crashing violently on enemy lines, leaving behind them scattered formations - the rest of the raiding force can easily pick appart. Where Fenr excel at quickly enveloping an enemy force's flanks, the Goltr act as the hard hitting bestial hammer!
