Each player takes control of a band of Traders trying to make a living in a dangerous galaxy, all the while hunted by the Purge, a semi-sentient race of humanoid machines whose sole task is to harvest worlds. The professional nature of the Old Dominion army was best exemplified by its officer cadre. A Xhiliarch, a commander of a thousand men, was both elected by his troops and trained by Dominion. Only those who had previously reached the rank of Centurion were eligible to become Xhiliarchs, who upon election traveled to Captias to be trained in grammar, arithmetic and logistics, allowing them to become the professional officer corps that the Legions needed to dominate the continent. Their exalted rank invariably meant that they were buried in full honors and ceremony, their embalming process and the interment services much more thorough and complex than that of a simple Legionnaire. As such, when raised as unliving vessels by the unGod they retained their cognitive capacity unlike the Legionnaires who retain but a vestige of their former self.

As befitting his crew of terrifying zombies, Jack Daw has split his focus and now serves the Resurrectionists as well as the Outcasts. He has also shifted back towards his original roots: he only has six wounds, but each time he suffers damage, he can discard a card to reduce that damage to 1. Similarly, whenever a model in his Crew would draw cards, he can instead heal damage. The Tormented takes full of advantage of his ability to attach Curse Upgrades to enemy models with their Torment Ability, which allows them to draw a card by damaging enemy models with Upgrades.

The number of Conditions in M2E has been reduced down to 11 single Conditions. As well, several Masters and Crews that once relied on conditions to function now use Tokens that serve as counters for their various abilities, whether they be deadly plagues or a crippling addiction to the raw essence of the Hungering Darkness.

A Strategos is the supreme commander of a Dominion Legion, a master of men who commanded the absolute loyalty of his troops, serving as their temporal and spiritual leader while on campaign. His mastery was one of strategy and diplomacy, allowing his officers, the ten Xhiliarchs who served under him to focus on logistics, tactics and the disposition of the troops. Entombed with all the pomp and ceremony one could expect, their awakening into an unlife of service is complete with misery and loss, for unlike the lesser order they not only retain their cognitive function, but memories from before. This makes them a double edged sword for those who would seek to command them: while one of the easiest and most efficient ways to secure the performance and power of an awakened Legion, the Strategoi are no unthinking minions to command. Zoraida has solidified her position as the queen of Action manipulation. In addition to moving other models around the battlefield according to her whims, she also possesses a great deal of card manipulation, both via cycling cards whenever the opponent Cheats Fate and her powerful Threads of Fate Action, which forces both players to discard their hand and draw six new cards. As is fitting for a bunch of creatures that live in the swamp, the Ability most often found among the Swampfiend is Penetrating Stench, forcing enemies around them to discard cards or gain the Stunned Condition.

In Vagrantsong, a cooperative and story-driven boss battler, you will take on the role of a Vagrant trapped on a supernatural ghost train. Face off against ghosts lingering on the train (called Haints), adjust your playstyle with Skills and Junk acquired along the way, and uncover the secrets of the Silver Ferryman in this spooky and challenging adventure.
In each of the 20+ Scenarios in Vagrantsong’s campaign, players will take turns spending their 3 Coins to take actions, such as: moving around the train board, investigating the unknown, and rummaging for items that might help them get out of a tight spot. Additionally, players can spend their Coins on more exclusive actions to remind a Haint of their lost Humanity, all in the hopes of freeing the spirit from the ghost train’s bone-chilling grip, and winning the Scenario in the process. But be careful! Each Haint has their own bag of tricks and gameplay mechanics. They will stop at nothing to make sure that the players lose all of their Humanity and stay aboard forever.
After each Vagrant turn, it’s time for the Haint to take theirs. The Vagrant who just took their turn will draw a Rummage Token from the Bindle and then perform the Haint’s Action based on its current Mood and the Rummage Token drawn. Then the Haint will Move toward the target priority (usually the Vagrant with the lowest Humanity) to strike them down!
Will you and your Vagrant friends survive the twists, turns, and tribulations that await you aboard the Silver Ferryman? Can you find your way off this train while restoring the Humanity of those who have failed before you? Or will your souls be lost forever, infinitely drifting in-between worlds to the song of the fiddle player?
