Among the Ardent, Flame Berserkers are a small brotherhood who, gifted beyond their peers with the raw power of the Element of Fire, do not seek to master or tame it, but rather embody it. For most, this transition happens during the Dheukorro, the Descent, the trail of passage all Ardent must complete to prove their devotion. None speak of what happens in the deep, but when they return they are changed: their bodies sport crude implants that compensate for those losses they have suffered to foe or flame, while their obsidian arms and what little armor they bear are impervious to the flame and heat they generate. In their mind, the trade is a favorable one: life for glory, time for worth. It is this, above all the other overwhelming advantages, that make Flame Berserkers such a terrifying foe to face. Only when one faces them on the field of battle can one truly grasp that behind the swirling flames and red-hot flurry of axes, lies a being that has consciously chosen self-immolation over survival; destruction over preservation; the death of their foes at the price of their own.
How they play:
Driven by pure aggression and fiery determination the flame berserkers rush ahead of the main force to make short work of most enemy Light and Medium Regiments. Unleash these powerful warriors during the opening stages of a game but be careful to not waste their potential on unimportant targets!
Following the defeat of the Dragons, it has long been a common practice among the Dweghom Holds to capture and break the lesser draco-forms to service. It is a testament to the harshness and potential dangers of military advancement, the fact that the bulk of Dweghom warriors have stepped off the advancement track and committed themselves to a lifetime of military service. The sword and shield remain the traditional equipment of these warriors. On the other hand, battle with a flying opponent quickly cured the Dweghom of preconceptions against ranged combat. The ballistae were the first ranged weapon developed to combat dragons and remain a powerful instrument of death against lesser foes, their ease of production and repair making them a staple of the Hold armories.
Be they shield-bearing warriors or ballistae specialists, when one encounters unranked Hold Warriors, he will mostly be facing hardened veterans who have devoted their life to military service. The small percentage who are not lifelong servicemen, however, trade battlefield experience for ambition and ruthlessness, making them just as dangerous on the field of battle.

To behold a Hold Raegh on the field of war is to witness a Paragon of his craft at the very pinnacle of his prowess. To rise to the position of Raegh, a Dweghom must reach a value of Aghm determined by the Mnemancers of each hold (considering the population, productivity, history and achievements of the Hold in question) while surpassing all others. In a society as militarized as the Dweghom, there is only one path that can lead to such heights: the craft of war. In the early stages of his prospective career, an aspiring candidate earns his Aghm directly: feats of arms and valor at the trials, and later the field of battle.

The steel and stone bodies of an Inferno Automaton encase a raging furnace that burns the smoldering remains of a beast of Destruction. Weakened by defeat, this demonic spirit is bound to the towering metal frame, infusing the Automaton with the cruel intellect and unfettered aggression of this tortured spirit. Steel and stone warp and buckle under the baleful influence of this infernal passenger, granting the Inferno Automata their demonic visages and cruel claws.

Clad in a shell of Dweghom-worked steel, an Ironclad Drake is a primordial incarnation of battle. Its already tough hide has been covered in thick iron plates, its vulnerable head and neck encased in steel. Warlike and proud like no other race, it should come as little surprise that the Dweghom have taken to displaying the might and prowess of their hold and history from the back of these powerful beasts. How they Play:
These formidable beasts are utilized in battle as mounts, and even after their rider's demise, they persist in their unending servitude, bearing the body and colors of their eternal master. In the Dweghom culture, "eternal" often means "until the next Dweghom rises with enough Aghm to claim this magnificent beast as their own mount." This notion alone motivates Dweghom in the presence of such a creature to fight with unmatched zeal, amplifying the ferocity of Dweghom attacks to unparalleled heights. This isn't even considering the presence of a powerful, fully-armored Drake wreaking havoc on enemy front lines.

All Dweghom have an affinity to the elements of earth and fire. Some possess enough to walk the path of the Sorcerer, bending these elements to their will, while most others possess only enough to be a danger to themselves and others. The Tempered Sorcerers have long sought to both harness and mitigate these tendencies in the dweghom race. The Magma Forged are among their latest successes: allowing the unbalanced and uncontrolled interaction between fire and earth power to power Magma, a lesser form of the balanced mastery of Metal, with enough control that the wielder is not immediately reduced to a pile of smoldering bones and charred flesh. The fumes and heat produced from this process are channeled outwards, generating a powerful field that both weakens the foe and innervates the wielder making him impervious to damage as his foes wither and melt around him.
How they play:
The Magmaforged are the more heavily armored brethren of the Flame Berserkers, focusing on following up on the Berserkers' advance and tasked with holding onto the territory the Berserkers cleared before them.

Such is the prestige and Aghm of the position of Hold Raegh, that even the eldest of Mnemancers begrudgingly concede that his deeds must be recorded. Sending even the most junior of their members to witness and record the Raegh’s actions in combat is a tremendous boon to an ambitious warlord. Warriors under his command will fight like men possessed, refusing to take a single backward step while under the merciless gaze of history personified.
While the greatest standing a Dweghom Warrior can attain is that of Hold Raegh, not all Raeghs are equal. The greatest amongst them are granted the title of Bergont Raegh and granted the honour of taking the hold’s own banner into battle atop the back of the only creature strong enough to bear its weight: the Ironclad Drake. So powerful and deep is this honour, that this honour persists beyond death, his remains riding to battle atop the Ironclad Drake until another might match his achievements and claim his title.
How they Play:
Riding an Ironclad Drake is the supreme symbol of Aghm. A Hold Raegh who has achieved such feats to earn the right to ride a Drake seeks only more formidable and larger adversaries. Such a Raegh merely needs direction towards the nearest monster or any other seemingly "unyielding" obstacle.

Some Dweghom manifest so much of their Elemental Gift, they must master it or be consumed by it. Few Have the skill, will or dedication needed to become Sorcerers. In fact, most Dweghom elect to install techno sorcerous grafts that allow them to harmlessly vent their excess power. Steelforged pilots are recruited from amongst these individuals who possess a Gift for both Elements: their excess Primordial Fire and Earth channeled through their grafts and into these towering steel automata. Countless foes have been cut down expecting a lumbering clanking behemoth, only to be confounded by the speed and power of these deadly automata.
How they Play The Steelforged are the Dweghom’s answer to the age old question of “quantity or quality of Attacks?”. With the Flux-Powered Rule Steelforged are capable of switching from one mode of Attack to the other whilst their naturally high Defense stats allows them to withstand even the most violent of onslaughts!

The reemergence of Yshkerdos from his presumed death has thrown the Tempered Caste of the Dweghom into disarray. Acknowledged as one of the greatest geniuses of his age, his unorthodox approach to sorcery and its craft revolutionized the field in a society that does not particularly enjoy revolutions or innovations. His ascension to Steel Shaper and presumed death relieved many of his peers who were alarmed at his notions. His sudden reemergence astride a stone behemoth whose revolutionary crystal matrices can be used to channel both Earth and Fire essence has alarmed many of his peers… but no so much that they have not copied his creation and brought it more in line with orthodox Dweghom society, granting the Tempered Caste a powerful new protector in the form of the Stone Forged.
How they Play:
Well-armored and incredibly resistant to spells and ranged attacks, the Stoneforged is bound to contest Objective Zones while feeding on resonating elemental potency to enhance its offensive capabilities. Its true capabilities, however, skyrocket when a Steelshaper rides this elemental monstrosity into battle.

All Dweghom possess, in varying degrees, some affinity to the Primordial Elements of Fire and Earth but those among them that actually wield sorcerous power are invariably tremendously powerful in either one, or both, Elements. This is the direct result of the labors of their Tempered ancestors who sought to master and control the raging forces of War’s Prison. What these Ancestors could not foresee, however, was the lack of control over these powers that the Dweghom display. Their control is so limited, in fact, and their power so great, that gifted Dweghom are doomed to die, consumed by their own gift.
Knowing this, it comes as little surprise that at the heart of a Tempered Sorcerer’s quest for power, one will ultimately always find the pursuit of control. This is what the Tempered believe they surrendered that fateful day they broke War’s prison: control of their power, control of themselves, control of their future. And it is all of these things that they struggle to regain.
The Tempered hierarchy places very little value on raw power, but rather focuses on control. It comes as little surprise that almost invariably the leaders of the Tempered Forges are Steel Shapers, for, by the Tempered, they are considered to be the pinnacle of the Dweghom race, as well as its salvation. Below them are those Sorcerers who have managed to balance their Elemental powers but are still in the process of combining them, the Magmancers. Below even them, stand the Sorcerers, who are still struggling to control their gifts, the Geomancers and Pyromancers.

For many in the Tempered Caste, the Steelshaper represents the pinnacle of Dweghom development, but the sad truth is that none of those who aspire to this lofty title and incredible achievement truly understands what the transformation entails.
When a Dweghom sorcerer achieves such mastery over his power that he can control both primordial affinities, he is capable of ascending to a higher understanding of the powers he commands. This much is understood by all who walk the path of the Sorcerer, and is the source of the raw power that Magma Sorcerers can command. The mistake they make is in believing that mixing these primordial elements is anything like melding them.
Only a small fraction of Sorcerers ever attain this level of mastery over the Elements, with most simply stopping upon achieving mastery over Magma. The comfortable lie one might chose to believe in is that most Sorcerers simply lack the touch of genius needed to achieve such complete control. The most perceptive amongst those who speak to these Master Sorcerers might see the real reason hiding behind their gruff demeanors and overwhelming Elemental power: fear.
These eldest and most accomplished of Sorcerers are amongst the few living creatures that regularly interact with the Steelshapers. They are also among the few who can see past the awe they inspire and truly grasp the changes this final transformation brings. On the surface, it becomes impossible to tell where their armor begins and where their flesh ends. Their voices echo hollow and their eyes stare expressionless. They clearly possess a terrifying genius and an unparalleled mental capacity, which they fixate relentlessly on problems about one of their alien interests or an experimental project, to which they ceaselessly devote themselves. Their power itself is entirely alien, different in both invocation and effect from the raw elemental might they wove before. Still, it is none of those things that bring fear to the elder Sorcerers. It is not even the sheer, daunting weight of responsibility that hangs from Steelshaper shoulders, as almost all the functions within a Dweghom Hold and all the works of the Temple Forge depend on their unique and brilliant innovations, a weight they seem to bare seamlessly with borderline indifference.
It is simply that the Elders fear these beings are no longer Dweghom.
While none argue with their effectiveness on the battlefield, few can understand the sorceries they bring to bear. Those who can grasp the faintest edges of the power a Steelshaper possesses would be rightfully puzzled by the notion that an army containing one might be defeated or even challenged, for their control over metal is total. Those who have questioned a Steelshaper on this issue invariable receive the same, flat and unexplained answer: Balance is needed.

During the early reign of the Hundred Kingdoms, the Order of the Shield took it upon itself to protect man from its most dangerous predators. Eschewing the combat formations of their predecessors, the Order of the Shield traveled the lands alone and sought to alleviate suffering where they could. The Emperor elevated their Order to the rank of Imperial Magistrates, allowing the Errant Knights of the Shield to work as judge, jury and executioner against all but the most powerful of noble houses. This did not endear them to the nobility, and when the last Emperor died one of their first moves was to seek out and destroy any members of this ancient order. Today they are few and far in between but continue their thankless task of protecting the citizens and peasants of the 100 Kingdoms against all those who would prey upon them, especially the nobility itself.

Trained in the arts of combat almost from childhood, squires are a potent force on the field even if they lack the panoply of a full knight. Often the youngest sons of landed nobles or wealthy burghers, their arms and equipment are a cut above what one would expect. Many noble houses have taken to fielding their squires in battle, rewarding them generously for their efforts calculating that their breeding, education, and training are far more valuable and dependable than the simple mercenary motivation of a man at arms.
Null Mages are gifted in each of the four elements. While no human could hope to reach the pinnacle of power that a Dweghom Sorcerer could muster, it is a known truism that it is easier to destroy than create. Given his access to all of the elements it is almost trivially easy for a Null Mage to dispel the efforts of even the most powerful mage, allowing the Hunter Cadre that hired him to finish the job safely and efficiently.

The Order of the Crimson Tower has taken upon itself to combat one of the great scourges of mankind: War. They have forsaken the notion of eliminating it entirely, instead focusing on ensuring it causes as little collateral damage as possible. Incredibly scrupulous in securing employment, they not only demand their employer have a strong Casus Belli (legal reason for war) but demand from their employers that no looting or pillaging take place.
